Family Jazz Concert

The show is on again this year: This is not just a jazz concert for children. It is a concert abounding with a childlike playfulness that young and old alike can enjoy, featuring MGQ’s real jazz, plus picture books, magic tricks, and witty jests. Student Jazz Festival

There will be performances by elementary, middle, and high school bands—including lively bands from here in Hamamatsu—that have continued to display their excellence throughout Japan. The age range of fans who enjoy jazz is growing broader every year, and the student jazz here in Hamamatsu shines all the brighter for it!
The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra Big Band Workshop
Saturday October 22, Open 14:30- / Start 15:00-, ACT City Hamamatsu / Main Hall
Learn about harmony and swing with 16 VJO members, based on an original curriculum developed by the world-renowned jazz big band. The course focuses on building more in-tune ensembles and creating complex grooves. Another goal of the course is to inspire participants to make discoveries on the road to mastery by having the chance to perform and speak with first-class musicians. At the end, VJO will put on a model performance for course participants to enjoy.
Rakugo and Jazz

JAZZ Lecture

For those of you who want to spend an autumn with the arts listening to jazz piano music, Shinya Takagi—a close friend of numerous musicians around the world—will spin tales and gleefully talk about masterpiece records by jazz pianists that would be just perfect for you. Mr. Takagi will explain how to get the knack of enjoying jazz, comparing versions of the classic jazz standards that are the staples of Autumn Jazz and noting the highlights of what makes performers and their music special. This is a must-see for jazz enthusiasts, those who would like to start listening to jazz, and those who would like to enjoy it even more than they do now!
Street Jazz Festival
